Andrew Wolfe Condition Update 2025: Guard Survivor Wiggles Toes & Gives Thumbs-Up

🙏 HOPE RISING: Andrew Wolfe condition update 2025 – West Virginia Guard survivor responds with thumbs-up & toe wiggles. Family asks for continued prayers.

Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, the 24-year-old West Virginia Air National Guard member critically wounded in last week’s DC shooting, is showing encouraging signs of recovery, Governor Patrick Morrisey announced Monday.

Speaking at a press conference, Morrisey shared that Wolfe, who remains in serious condition, responded to a nurse by giving a thumbs-up and even wiggled his toes. “We take that as a very positive sign,” the governor said, while reminding everyone he is “not the doctor.”

From Critical to Fighting: Wolfe’s Recovery Journey

Wolfe and Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, 20, were shot multiple times near Farragut West Metro station on Wednesday while on patrol. Beckstrom tragically passed away Thursday. President Trump had previously said Wolfe was “fighting for his life.” The new signs of responsiveness have brought cautious optimism to West Virginia and beyond.

Morrisey praised Wolfe’s family, calling them “wonderful people.” Wolfe’s mother has been asking the nation to keep praying. “Those prayers are working,” the governor added emotionally.

Sarah Beckstrom Memorial Plans Underway

Meanwhile, funeral arrangements for Sarah Beckstrom are being finalized. The 20-year-old from the 863rd Military Police Company enlisted in June 2023. Vigils and ceremonies have taken place across West Virginia — at churches, high schools both victims attended, and McLaughlin Air National Guard Base in Charleston.

Maj. Gen. Jim Seward called both guardsmen “the very best of America.” President Trump has invited both families to the White House “when they’re ready.”

Trump Orders 500 More Troops to DC After Attack

Following the targeted shooting, the Trump administration immediately ordered 500 additional National Guard troops to Washington, D.C. None of the new deployment came from West Virginia; the roughly 170 West Virginians still in the capital are serving voluntarily.

The White House also announced a pause on all Afghan passport visa issuances and a full halt on asylum decisions in the wake of the suspect’s background.

Community Continues to Rally Around Heroes

A growing makeshift memorial remains outside Farragut West station. Flowers, flags, and handwritten notes honor both soldiers. Social media campaigns with #PrayForWolfe and #HonorBeckstrom continue trending nationwide.

West Virginia lawmakers have introduced a resolution honoring the two guardsmen. Blood drives and fundraiser events are scheduled statewide this week to support medical costs and the families.

As Andrew Wolfe condition update 2025 brings daily hope, the nation watches closely. Doctors say every small movement is a victory. The road ahead remains long, but the fighter from Martinsburg is proving why America’s Guard is made of unbreakable spirit.
