Maj. Gen. Jim Seward called both guardsmen “the very best of America.” President Trump has invited both families to the White House “when they’re ready.”

Trump Orders 500 More Troops to DC After Attack

Following the targeted shooting, the Trump administration immediately ordered 500 additional National Guard troops to Washington, D.C. None of the new deployment came from West Virginia; the roughly 170 West Virginians still in the capital are serving voluntarily.

The White House also announced a pause on all Afghan passport visa issuances and a full halt on asylum decisions in the wake of the suspect’s background.
